La Maroma, the queen of our mountains. Imposing, adventurous, perpetual and distant and close at the same time. Which rewards the efforts always solidaries and sometimes superhuman with its bird’s-eye views. There is no greater reward than having lunch overlooking the reservoir of La Viñuela, Sierra Nevada, the Mediterranean Sea and the region of La Axarquía. Sometimes on clear days we can see Gibraltar and many miles of the coast of Africa.
Anyone hiking will ask you if you have climbed La Maroma, because it is an essential summit in Malaga. There are several ways to climb it; the main ones are Canillas de Aceituno, El Robledal and Llanadas de Sedella.
This is the shortest route to the peak. The route starts at la Llanadas de Sedella (Sedella’s meadows) where we will be driven in 4×4, a 50 minutes journey from Canillas de Albaida.
This is a circular route and on our way up we will pass by Tacita de Plata (a natural water source) on footpaths until we reach the rocky plateau of the top.

This is one of the classical routes to La Maroma along with the Canillas de Aceituno route.
We will start with a transfer to El Robledal in Alhama (time depending on the picking up point) in the north face of the mountain. The route goes through pine and oak forests until reaching 1800 meters. Despite being a long route, when you finish you will feel great because the area between oaks is gorgeous, the Salto del Caballo path is very beautiful and the views on the way to the Maroma are magnificient. It is one of the essential summits of Malaga.

This walk begins and ends in the white washed village of Canillas de Aceituno. It is known as the Casa de la Nieve (house of the snow) which was a traditional route for muleteers to La Maroma to get snow.
